School: 10classes All day 2th Primary School of Kalampaki
Our school is a primary school situated in Kalambaki (a village with a population of 4,000), Northern Greece, 30 km from the port of Kavala. We have 152 students (aged 6 – 12 years) old and 23 teachers. Besides language, maths, history, environmental studies, science, PE and religious education, our children are also taught English, German, music, art and IT. Our main goals are extroversion, exchange of good practices, keeping up with the European agenda for education, sharing knowledge and experiences. We are also interested in school management issues and the integration of multidisciplinarity in teaching.
The persons in charge will be the headmaster and the teacher of English. The key persons will be the deputy headmaster and three class teachers. Our English teacher as well as two of our teachers have taken part in Erasmus programmes (with previous schools), therefore they have experience on the field. Moreover, many of our teachers have conducted local environmental
projects.
Our school is considered among the best in our area, well-organised, with many facilities, open to the local society and with a friendly staff. It also houses a new school library, a computer lab and an excellent assembly hall.
Some of our interests include:
• New teaching methods
• Multidisciplinarity
• GIS in education
• STEM skills
• Library activities
• The well-being of children
• Local history, tradition and culture
It is very important for schools to encourage healthy lifestyle choices among students. Helping young people stay healthy is a fundamental part of the mission of our school. School health programs can improve not only students’ health but also their academic achievement. The benefits of this program for our school are multiple. The students will be encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle, they will be engaged in more physical activities and on top of that they will have the opportunity to do this in a multicultural context.
